New day, new author for Des Moines biz column

Joel Aschbrenner is the new Biz Buzz columnist at the Des Moines Register, and the column will appear on Sundays instead of Tuesdays.

Aschbrenner writes, “Biz Buzz was created by longtime Register business columnist David Elbert and executive business editor Lynn Hicks. More recently, Hicks manned the Buzz helm solo.

“Elbert and Hicks provided a look at the movers and shakers in Iowa business, a window into the conversations being held in board rooms and power lunches around the state.

“A year ago, Hicks was hired as the Register’s opinion and engagement editor, and since then a group of business reporters have shared the column.

“I hope to continue what Elbert and Hicks built. Biz Buzz will break news, profile interesting business professionals and provide analysis of the issues shaping the Des Moines metro’s business culture.”
