New chief marketer named for WSJ

Paul Bascobert was named chief marketing officer for the Dow Jones Consumer Media Group, which includes The Wall Street Journal, on Thursday, according to a news release.

His job is to increase circulation while also finding new ways to use the customer knowledge to create new growth opportunities.

“Paul’s a superb executive with a rock solid track record at developing customer resource tools and creating marketing programs,” said Todd Larsen, the consumer media group chief operating officer. “Under his leadership at Dow Jones, he re-engineered the company’s customer management infrastructure and launched innovative programs for advertisers.”

Bascobert worked with companies such as The New York Times, DirecTV, and OnStar when he was executive vice president at Braun Consulting, a firm specializing in marketing strategy and consumer resource management tools. He joined Dow Jones in March 2006 from Exchange Solutions, an internet marketing firm where he led the media practice.

He was most recently the senior vice president, operations, for the Consumer Media Group where he was responsible for printing, distribution, fulfillment, IT and customer service for the Journal and Barron’s.
