Jim McBride, who has been with the Amarillo Globe-News in Texas for the past 21 years in a variety of jobs, has been named the paper’s business editor, according to a story in Sunday’s paper.
David Pittman wrote, “‘Jim brings a wealth of experience in all phases of reporting and editing,’ Executive Editor Dawn Dressler said. ‘His ties to this community and his knowledge of the region are unsurpassed.’
“McBride graduated with a journalism degree from Southern Illinois University in 1985. He started work at the Globe-News on June 15, 1986.
“‘We kind of had a pipeline between our university and opportunities here,’ McBride said.
“He had two offers out of school, one in North Carolina and a general assignment reporting job in Amarillo.”
