Former Helena Independent Record sports editor Jeff Windmueller began Monday as the new business reporter at the Montana paper.
A story on its site states, “Windmueller, who resigned from his previous position to enlist in the Montana National Guard, joins the team of seven full-time news reporters. He will be responsible for covering local and statewide issues and trends for the daily and Sunday business pages. He succeeds John Harrington, who since December has been the newspaper’s community outreach editor.
“‘Jeff did a terrific job in his former capacity, and we’re excited to have him in this essential beat in our newsroom,’ said Independent Record editor John Doran. ‘He is a prolific reporter and really excels at developing trust with his sources. That’s one of his many positive traits and I know the business community will appreciate and respect that.’
“Windmueller returned from basic training at Fort Benning, Ga., on March 31 and will be entering officer candidate school for the Montana Army National Guard on a part-time basis. He hopes to graduate from the program next year with the possibility of attending flight school.”
