New biz editor named at Oregon paper

Ed Russo has replaced Ilene Aleshire as The (Eugene, Oregon) Register-Guard’s business editor after working as the paper’s Eugene city government reporter for the past 11 years, according to a story on its website.

Aleshire has been named the paper’s associate editor.

Elon Glucklich writes, “Russo will oversee the newspaper’s business news team and help guide overall news coverage.

“Russo joined The Register-Guard in 2000 as a business news reporter. He held that post until 2004, when he became the Eugene government reporter.

“Before moving to Eugene, Russo worked as a business reporter at the Omaha World-Herald in Nebraska, mainly covering technology companies.

“Russo started his journalism career in 1986 at the Lincoln Journal in Nebraska. He covered county, city and state government. He became a business reporter in 1995 after the merger of the Lincoln Journal and Lincoln Star.”
