Elena Cherney has been named to oversee the business coverage at the Globe and Mail, according to a short story Friday.
She replaces John Stackhouse, who became the paper’s top editor. Cherney had been ME of the section.
The story states, “Prior to joining The Globe in 2007, Ms. Cherney, 37, was a business reporter for The Wall Street Journal, and before that, the National Post and the Montreal Gazette.
“Born in Victoria and raised in Montreal, Ms. Cherney attended Yale University, graduating cum laude with a degree in English and history.
“Coinciding with the announcement, ROB columnist Derek DeCloet was named managing editor of Report on Business. He joined The Globe in 2003 after working as a reporter and columnist for the National Post and investment editor and writer at Canadian Business magazine.”
