New biz editor in Vancouver

The Vancouver Sun named Hugh Dawson as the new editor of BusinessBC, its business section, according to a short story in Friday’s paper.

“I’m delighted to be taking on the challenges of covering this province’s dynamic business community at such a compelling time,” Dawson said Thursday. “B.C. is home to some of the world’s most innovative and successful industries, and The Sun has the most talented journalists to cover them.

The story stated, “Dawson has been a reporter and editor since 1989, working at several newspapers across Canada. He also spent six years as a managing editor and columnist at an English-language daily in Taipei, Taiwan.

“A native of Vancouver, Dawson has a bachelor’s degree from Queen’s University and was a member of the first class through the University of B.C.’s Graduate School of Journalism.

“He joined The Sun in 1999, and has worked as the paper’s deputy business editor since 2003.”
