New biz editor at New York Post

Everett “Jay” Sherman has been named the business editor at the New York Post, replacing Sean Gannon, who has left the paper.

Sherman joins the paper as deputy business editor in late 2006 from Pensions & Investments, where he covered trading and asset services. Sherman joined P&Is’ New York office in June from TelevisionWeek, where he was business editor for three years.

Sherman previously managed a group of capital markets newsletters at Thomson Financial. He has a bachelor’s degree in economics from William & Mary in Williamsburg, Va.

Gannon had been a controversial choice as business editor. His previous job before the Post was working for Star magazine.
