Marianne Kobak, a reporter at the paper, has been named the new business editor at the Elko Daily Free Press in Nevada, according to a story in Thursday’s paper.
As business editor, Kobak will cover related beats such as the Elko County Economic Diversification Authority, the Elko Convention & Visitors Authority and the Elko Area Chamber of Commerce.
Said Kobak: ‘I grew up and started my career in Ohio, but over the past four years I have made Elko my home. My time with the Elko Daily Free Press has allowed me to grow in my skills as a journalist and I hope to continue learning.
“As journalists we strive to keep the community informed. As the crime reporter I sought to shed light on the seedy side of life, but as the business editor I hope to show the human face of local business and expand coverage of Elko companies as the city continues to grow.”
“Marianne has proven herself to be a versatile and prolific reporter,” said editor Jeffry Mullins, “and I am confident she will greatly enhance our business coverage in her new position.”
