Alex Richards, a data reporter and editor at NerdWallet, has been hired by Syracuse University to join its faculty.
Richards will primarily teach data journalism.
Richards has been at NerdWallet since July 2016 and was originally part of a team devoted to telling consumer finance stories in the public’s interest. He most recently has been an assigning editor. He came to NerdWallet from Investigative Reporters and Editors, where he was training director.
He’s a former Chicago Tribune reporter and has been a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize.
Richards also has a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the Missouri School of Journalism.
