Nawaguna leaving Reuters for Market News

Elvina Nawaguna, a Reuters reporter who covered economic data, is leaving the news service for a job at Market News International.

Her last day at Reuters is Tuesday.

Nawaguna has been at Reuters since 2012, compiling economic indicators and data on energy and commodities for Reuters paid clients, as well as writing stories across diverse beats, including higher education, Postal Service regulation, international trade, transportation, housing and consumer financial issues.

Before that, she was a business reporter for the Lakeland Ledger in Florida.

Nawaguna studied at Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda, and she has a master’s degree from the Cronkite School at Arizona State University. In Uganda, she worked as a features writer with the leading daily newspaper.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
