National Post reporter Forrest set to join Politico

Maura Forrest will be joining Politico to report on energy and environmental policy for the organization’s Ottawa squad.

Forrest will join a Canada team accompanied by editor Sue Allan and reporters Andy Blatchford in Ottawa and Lauren Gardner in Rosslyn.

She will be overseeing coverage of policy and politics in Canada heading into the start of a new Parliament for Politico.

Forrest has two and a half years of experience working for the Post’s Ottawa bureau covering energy and the environment, immigration, indigenous affairs, including carbon pricing, the new Canadian environmental assessment law and the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion.

She has also written on a number of non-policy topics along her career.

Prior to joining National Post, she worked as a freelancer and before that as a political reporter at Yukon News. Additionally, she has also interned at many notable news outlets including the Globe & Mail and CBC.

Forrest is a bachelor’s degree holder in agricultural and environmental sciences from McGill University and a master’s in journalism from the University of British Columbia.
