The National Journal group announced Friday that two Wall Street Journal reporters will be joining the media company as correspondents in preparation for a fall relaunch of its website and publications.
She comes to National Journal Group from The Wall Street Journal, where she has been the lead writer for the popular political blog, “Washington Wire.” A member of the Journal’s political team since September 2007, Davis covered the 2008 presidential campaign, Congress, and congressional campaigns. Prior to that, she covered the U.S. House for Roll Call. Her new position will be a homecoming of sorts; she previously worked for CongressDaily, covering the House, Senate, and campaign finance beats. Davis’s first stint at National Journal Group began in the research department of the Almanac of American Politics.
Fawn Johnson joins National Journal Group as the general assignment correspondent, covering a range of issues including transportation and education. Johnson comes to National Journal from Dow Jones Newswires and the Wall Street Journal, where she covered financial regulation and telecommunications. She is also an alumnus of National Journal, where she reported on health care, labor and immigration for CongressDaily.
“Fawn and Sue are both wicked smart and deeply sourced journalists who know how to dig beyond the talking points and spin to give our readers and subscribers the news they need to know,” said editor-in-chief Ron Fournier in a statement. “We’re thrilled to have them join this fast-growing team.”
