National Journal editor in chief Steven G. Smith and managing editor Ben Pershing sent out the following to the staff:
Hello all. We’ve very pleased to announce that we’ve hired Brian Dabbs to serve as our Energy and Environment Correspondent, taking over the beat that was previously handled so capably by Jason Plautz.
Brian joins National Journal from Bloomberg BNA, where he has served as an energy and environment reporter since 2015. Before that he spent two years covering trade issues for International Trade Today. He also worked for three years as an editor and reporter based in Cairo and Nairobi, roaming widely around Africa and the Middle East.
Brian grew up near Annapolis and graduated from Western State Colorado University before earning a master’s in journalism at Georgetown. His first day here is Monday, so please join us in making him feel welcome.
