National Journal hires Bordelon as tech reporter

Brendan Bordelon

National Journal editor in chief Steven G. Smith and managing editor Ben Pershing sent out the following announcement on Monday:

Hello everyone. We have two exciting newsroom moves to share.

First, we’re pleased to announce that we’ve hired Brendan Bordelon to serve as our Technology Correspondent. He comes to us from Morning Consult, where he has been covering tech and cybersecurity policy on the Hill. Before that he worked for two years as a political reporter at National Review, and also did a stint at The Daily Caller. Brendan is a Bay Area native and a graduate of the University of California, Riverside. He starts here March 27, and we’re confident he will hit the ground running on a very important beat for National Journal.

Second, we’re happy to announce we’re promoting Colin Diersing, who has done a superb job as a fellow for the Hotline, to Staff Correspondent. With Alex Brown departing to hike the Pacific Crest Trail, Colin will be taking on much of Alex’s responsibilities working with Jeff Dufour on NJ Daily print features—including Bull’s Eye, Smart Ideas, and Carousel. In between those duties, Colin will also continue to contribute campaign stories of the sort he’s done so well in his time here. Please congratulate Colin on his new role, which he will assume in mid-April.
