Jacob SteimerJacob Steimer has been hired as a reporter at the Nashville Business Journal to cover tourism, hospitality and the music industry, as well as its sports teams.

Steimer recently graduated from the University of Missouri, where he studied journalism and economics.

At Missouri, Steimer was assistant city editor and a reporter at the Missourian, and he also worked for Missouri Business Alert, a business news site founded by professor Randy Smith. He has also freelanced for the St. Louis Business Journal.

Steimer interned last summer on the business desk of the Charlotte Observer. While there he worked on a story that was a finalist in the SABEW Best in Business student contest.

Steimer combed through tax forms filed by Inspirational Networks to find that the nonprofit religious organization had doubled CEO David Cerullo’s pay to about $5.7 million in 2013, and his daughter made more than $1 million. The pay dwarfed most in the nonprofit world, according to Steimer’s story.
