Murphy departing Protocol for IBM Research

Mike Murphy

Mike Murphy, special projects director at Protocol, is leaving the tech news site to become a scientific writer for IBM Research.

“I loved covering transformation across so many different industries, and I’ll continue to be a loyal reader,” he wrote on Twitter.

He joined the tech news site in 2019 as its transformation editor, focusing on the industries being rapidly upended by technology, and the companies that are disrupting their incumbents.

Previously, Murphy was technology editor at Quartz, where he frequently wrote on robotics, artificial intelligence and consumer electronics.
