Moving from news to business news

Cindy Wojdyla Cain of the Joliet Herald News in Illinois writes Sunday about making the switch from news to business news.

Cain wrote, “At first, I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect over here in biz. Now, a couple months into it, I’m thrilled to be here.

“Most of the business people I’ve met in the last couple of months are exciting, dynamic entrepreneurs. People of action. People who are making their dreams come true. People who are carrying on family businesses.

“So far I’ve written about everything from a high-end resale shop for women’s clothing to global trade with China. There have been positive stories about the first bed and breakfast in Grundy County and a new wine/antique shop in Lockport, but also not so positive stories about the sub-prime loan mess and building permit numbers plummeting.”
