Fortune has hired David Z. Morris as staff writer.
Morris was previously a freelance writer with bylines in Fortune, The Atlantic, Slate, Pacific Standard, and other outlets. He’s also a former social science researcher.
His primary areas of interest include race and identity, technology, and culture.
Fortune in May raised its cover price, established a digital paywall, and committed to boosting its conference business.
That month, its digital staff also voted to join the NewsGuild of New York, a union that represents the interests of media professionals at multiple news outlets.
