Claire Williams, who has reported on the retail industry at S&P Global Intelligence since February 2017, has been hired by Morning Consult to cover financial policy and to write the morning finance newsletter.
Williams’ last day at S&P Global is Oct. 12. She starts at Morning Consult on Oct. 18 and will be based in Washington.
At S&P Global, Williams focused on Walmart, the decline of U.S. shopping malls and the recent wave of bankruptcies in the sector. Her beat also included big-box retail, e-commerce, apparel/footwear and specialty retail companies that rank among the largest in the world, such as Amazon, Home Depot and Nike.
A UNC-Chapel Hill graduate, Williams previously covered Tyson Foods and agribusiness while at the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.
