Galen Moore, the editor in chief of Streetwise Media, which operates tech news sites in four cities, has left the company in a reorganization.
Streetwise Media, which is owned by American City Business Journals, operates BostonInno, DC Inno, Chicago Inno and Austin Inno. Austin launched in July 2015 while Chicago launched in June 2014.
Moore had been editor in chief since April 2014, helping the company launch in Austin and Chicago. He was previously the web editor of the Boston Business Journal and the managing editor at Fierce Markets.
Austin Inno writer Brent Wistrom, in its daily newsletter, wrote Wednesday that the restructuring impacted all of Streetwise’s offices and that Billy Utt, who wrote for Austin Inno, was also laid off.
“I’ve worked in three newsrooms and have survived perhaps 10 rounds of layoffs,” wrote Wistrom. “It doesn’t get easier with experience, but it does make you realize that despite the altruistic goals of journalism, it’s still a business in a competitive and changing marketplace.”
Moore has a master’s degree in technological entrepreneurship from Northeastern University and a bachelor’s degree from Boston University.
