Monthly biz magazine to launch in New Orleans

A New Orleans publishing company plans to launch a monthly business magazine for the city called Biz New Orleans.

The first issue will be in October. A related daily blog page and email newsletter will launch prior to the print edition in September.

“New Orleans needs a great business magazine and now it will have one,” said Todd Matherne, chief executive officer of Renaissance Publishing, in a statement.

Renaissance Publishing also publishes New Orleans Magazine, New Orleans Homes & Lifestyles, St. Charles Avenue, Louisiana Life, New Orleans Bride and Acadiana Profile.

Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
