Tara Montgomery, who worked for Consumer Reports for the last 14 years, primarily in its health care coverage, has left the magazine.

Her last day was Friday.

On Medium, Montgomery writes, “My first 7 years at CR allowed me to learn about product management and digital health, launch a new website (ConsumerReportsHealth.org), help build a new program (Best Buy Drugs), and grow a newsletter (Consumer Reports On Health). My second 7 years shifted my focus to strategy and impact, as a member of the team that established the Health Ratings Center, kicked off our health reform efforts, created the Choosing Wisely campaign, and designed experiments to reach new audiences through partnerships and events.

“Last year, I had the chance to help shape the health portion of the Consumer Reports strategic plan for 2017–2020 and lay the groundwork for a focused effort to improve patient safety, reduce healthcare and drug costs, and ensure affordable access to coverage and care. I could not be more fortunate to have worked with the health teams and other colleagues on these projects and I am proud of all the things that we accomplished together. I’ll be excited to see our plans turn into action and impact over the next few years.

“I will be around for another month wrapping things up and ensuring a smooth transition of my current activities and relationships. My last day will be March 31st. The next morning I’ll be on a plane to London to prepare to sell my mother’s house. When I get back, I’ll be taking my first hot air balloon ride over Lake George. As someone afraid of heights, I want to start the next episode of my life outside of my comfort zone and see what perspectives that brings.”
