Monterey Herald cuts standalone business section

The Monterey County Herald newspaper in California is cutting its standalone business section during the week.

The business section will now appear with the sports section.

In a short announcement Monday, the paper stated, “We’re combining some sections and dropping others as we move into 2008. Our goal is to maintain the high level of quality you’ve come to expect from us and to meet our fiscal responsibilities.

“The changes include:

“Combining sports and business into an expanded section Tuesday through Saturday. The business section will begin at the back of the sports section and we’re pleased to revive the stocks in review on Saturdays. Business news that appeared on the back of the A section on Monday will go away.”
