Mobile biz reporter becomes political editor

George Talbot, a business reporter for the Mobile Press-Register in Alabama, is becoming the paper’s political editor, according to a short story in Sunday’s paper.

The story stated, “In this year’s Alabama Press Association news writing competition, Talbot swept the Best Business Story category, winning first, second and third places with three different stories.

“Talbot twice has been part of a business reporting team that won top national honors from the Society of American Business Editors and Writers. In addition, he has received first-place honors in the prestigious Green Eyeshade Awards for Southern newspapers.

“As political editor, Talbot will continue to report, penning a political column and covering issues of local, statewide and national interest.”
