MiBiz names Boomgaard its editor

Managing Editor Joe Boomgaard has been promoted to the position of editor of MiBiz, the Grand Rapids, Mich.-based business fortnightly.

A story on its website states, “He assumes the editor title from Editor & Publisher Brian Edwards, who will remain as publisher. Boomgaard will be responsible for all editorial operations of MiBiz, including the company’s biweekly print newspaper, online presence through MiBiz.com, and a variety of digital news products.

“The business publication also promoted longtime executive Kristi Kortman to the post of Director of Marketing & Audience Development. In her new role, Kortman will be responsible for building the publication’s subscriber base and enhancing its marketing and advertising programs for clients.

“‘Joe and Kristi have quietly led the reinvention of MiBiz over the past three years into a regional leader in business coverage,’ Edwards said. ‘As we head into 2016, they’re working closely with Associate Publisher Denise Schott to reinvent MiBiz again.'”
