Desiree Stennett, a business reporter at the Memphis Commercial Appeal, has been hired by the Orlando Sentinel to cover race across Central Florida.
Her last day at the Commercial Appeal is Aug. 21.
“I’ll be looking to tell stories about criminal justice, economics, health and politics through a lens of racial justice and equity,” said Stennett on Twitter about her new job.
She has been at the Memphis paper since October 2018 covering growth and development as well as tourism. She previously worked at personal finance site The Penny Hoarder as a senior writer.
Stennett also worked at the Sentinel from 2012 to 2015 as a general news reporter and at the Tallahassee Democrat as a reporter.
