Mark Meltzer, the executive editor of the Atlanta Business Chronicle, is leaving the paper after 22 years, including 20 as executive editor.
His last day is Friday. He will not be replaced.
“It’s been a privilege to work here and I’m thankful for having had the chance to work with so many great people,” he wrote on Twitter.
He previously was the assistant business editor of the Gwinnett Daily News and a reporter at the Marietta Daily Journal. He has also been president of the Atlanta Press Club. He is the co-author of 10 books, including the New York Times No. 1 Best-Seller, “Clark Howard’s Living Large in Lean Times.”
Meltzer said he plans to spend more time at his home in Merida, Mexico. And he’ll be continuing his work with the Atlanta Press Club and the Buckhead Rotary Club.
In an email to the staff, Business Chronicle editor David Allison wrote, “We thank Mark for his service to the Chronicle, the reporters he mentored over the years, and ACBJ as a whole.”
