Jay Yarow, senior vice president and executive editor of CNBC Digital, sent out the following announcement on Friday:
We have some exciting, albeit bittersweet news: Ted Kemp has accepted a new role with our International team as Digital Managing Editor overseeing the editorial direction for CNBC EMEA and CNBC Asia Pacific’s digital content. He will be based in Singapore.
Here in the U.S., Ted’s been a leader of our markets and finance reporting, while also helping to manage the site’s political coverage and geopolitical affairs. If that’s not enough, he played a significant role in a forthcoming long form documentary and authored a book about Iraq. Ted’s always impressed us with his intelligence, hard work and ability to deliver great stories for digital. While we will miss him, we’re thrilled he’ll still be a part of the organization and we look forward to him helping to lead CNBC’s international coverage. Ted’s last day at CNBC HQ is June 15.
With that in mind, we’re happy to announce that John Melloy will take complete control of markets, investing, and finance coverage in addition to continuing to helm CNBC PRO. With John’s passion and extensive knowledge of markets, he is the perfect person to lead reporting of this core content. And, by giving him purview over both CNBC PRO and our general interest markets coverage, CNBC Digital will be well-positioned to achieve its goal of becoming the best business/money site in the world.
