Mashable announced Wednesday that it has hired Damon Beres as its deputy tech editor.
Beres will help drive technology coverage and direct the stories produced for Mashable’s Snapchat Discover channel.
Beres joins Mashable from The Huffington Post where he most recently served as senior technology editor. Prior to joining HuffPo in 2014, he had worked for Reader’s Digest, NY1 News and Hearst. He’s a graduate of New York University.
“Mashable’s tech coverage has always been in-depth, insightful, and ahead of the competition. With well-reported news posts, analysis, and opinion, our tech editors let you know what’s worth your time right now and what eventually will change your life,” said Gregory Gittrich, Mashable’s chief content officer, in a statement. “We’re excited to welcome Damon to Mashable. We’re adding even more reporting and editing depth to the world-class coverage that Mashable has been built on.”
Beres will be based in Mashable’s global headquarters in New York and will report to technology editor Pete Pachal. His first day will be Aug. 16.
