Maryland newspaper starts a business blog

The Frederick News-Post’s business section will start a blog on Monday. While a number of daily newspapers have business blogs, few the size of the Maryland paper have one.

A short story in Sunday’s paper said, “News-Post web Editor Jason Brennan said the blog is the start of a new era online. Business Editor Cliff Cumber and reporter Joseph de Leon will be the site’s bloggers initially.

“‘Their blogs may take the tone of morning talk radio at times, and that’s what we’re looking for,’ Brennan said Friday. ‘The biz blog will be fun, informative and, in Cliff’s old-school words, ‘groovy.’ I think they’ll have fun with this.’

“In addition to breaking news, the blog will engage readers in discussions and serve as an open reporter’s notebook, giving readers insight into how stories develop and provide a place for details that normally escape publication.

“Among topics the blog will cover are technology, new businesses and any other related topics.”
