MarketWatch.com has hired Sarah Toy as a reporter covering the media industry.
She will write about the intersection of media, entertainment, and money, chronicling how legacy film, TV, and print companies are facing off against tech giants.
She has also written for The Wall Street Journal, USA Today and the Worcester Telegram & Gazette.
Before she became a journalist, Toy was in the medical field. She was involved in clinical research at Boston Medical Center for years, studying the basic social needs of mothers and children and social determinants of health.
In 2012, she started medical school at Boston University School of Medicine, but realized mid-way through that journalism was her true passion.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Union College and a master’s degree in journalism from Boston University.
