MarketWatch.com, a Dow Jones financial news website, hit 33.3 million unique visitors in February, a record.
The previous record was 27 million unique visitors in one month. As recently as January 2016, it had 23.3 million unique visitors, which was then a record.
“So proud of the MarketWatch team for achieving an all-time audience record & thanks to our tens of millions of readers for your support,” said Dow Jones Media Group Publisher Almar Latour on Facebook.
MarketWatch’s success in February included coverage of a whistleblower’s claims about the CBOE Volatility Index, how people are walking into glass walls at the new Apple headquarters and whether the stock market crashed.
MarketWatch, which was launched in July 1997 and acquired by Dow Jones in 2005, has 55 editors and reporters. Jeremy Olshan has been the editor since 2014.
