MarketWatch.com has hired Levi Sumagaysay to cover the gig economy.
She will start on July 20.
Sumagaysay had previously been at Protocol, the new tech news site from the owners of Politico, before leaving in April.
Sumagaysay reported on Silicon Valley. She joined Protocol from the San Jose Mercury News, where she was a tech reporter.
A former business news editor and writer of Good Morning Silicon Valley, which was one of the earliest blogs to chronicle the rise of the internet, Sumagaysay has written or edited technology news since the first dot-com boom.
At the Mercury News, Sumagaysay was also the business copy chief and assistant business editor.
