“Marketplace” hires Scarbrough as VP, GM

“Marketplace,” a radio show produced and distributed by American Public Media, has named Neal Scarbrough as its vice president and general manager.

In his new role, Scarbrough will oversee a team of broadcast and digital journalists, editors and producers across radio and on demand in Los Angeles, New York, Washington, London and Shanghai.

“What we thought we knew about our economy changes every day, and ‘Marketplace’ has established a gold standard using interviews and storytelling to make real sense of it to real people,” said Scarbrough in a statement.

Scarbrough joins from Fox Sports, where he was vice president and executive editor. He is also the founder and managing partner at Scarbrough, ThInc., a multimedia digital engagement, broadcast news, journalism, and PR/marketing firm.

Additionally, he has also worked at Al Jazeera, Comcast and was editor-in-chief at AOL Sports. He was also vice president/editor-in-chief/news director at ESPN. He has also edited for The Denver Post.

Scarbrough is a University of Colorado graduate.
