Mario Marroquin, a business and finance reporter, has joined the Rochester/Westchester Journal News/lohud editorial team where he will cover the real estate and development beats in the Lower Hudson Valley and Northern New Jersey regions.
Marroquin has covered the New York and New Jersey metro real estate markets, as well as the debt markets in Latin America.
His most recent assignment was for The Real Deal and Jersey Digs, where he provided business-to-business coverage of commercial real estate trends and developments in Northern New Jersey, New York and Connecticut.
Marroquin has also worked as the capital markets and infrastructure finance reporter for LatinFinance, and as a commercial real estate reporter for NJBIZ.
Among the recent significant real estate stories he’s covered were the rise of transit-oriented developments that are transforming suburbs in the northeast, the tax incentives and structures awarded to developers, and the politics around zoning, land-use and redevelopment.
Originally from El Salvador, Marroquin is a graduate of Penn State University and a native Spanish speaker. He can be reached at MMarroquin@lohud.com and via Twitter at @Mars3vega.
