Marc Tracy

New York Times business editor Ellen Pollock sent out the following announcement to the staff:

Please welcome Marc Tracy to Business, where he has already started covering the news about the news.

Before joining the media desk, Marc covered college sports for The Times for five years. During that time, his work was recognized by the Associated Press Sports Editors association, and he racked up approximately one million Delta SkyMiles and 800,000 Marriott points. (Marc recommends booking a room with two queen-size beds — one for you, one for your stuff.)

Before coming to The Times in 2014, Marc was on staff at The New Republic, where he got some training for his new role with pieces on journalism like “The Tweeps on the Bus” and “The Pivotal, Behind-the-Scenes Story of How the “Game Change” Guys Get Sources to Talk.” Before that, while working at Tablet, he won the last National Magazine Award given for blogging, a once-popular digital format.

In his relatively short time at the media desk, Marc has already written on a press crackdown in China, Craig Newmark’s largess, a freelancer who got bustedin San Francisco for doing his job, turmoil at The Markup, the end of Mad, the state of climate reportingVicky Ward versus Graydon Carter, and the investigative journalism podcast “In the Dark.”

Please join us in welcoming Marc!
