Reporting on the economy and the markets

Debbie Anders of the Scarsdale Inquirer in New York profiled Fox Business Network anchor Lori Rothman, who lives in the area.

Anders writes, “Rothman works hard at both ends of the spectrum — as anchor of the 1 p.m. news hour on FBN reporting on corporate earnings and the global economy for the past year, and making a life for her family in Edgemont. ‘I’m primarily a studio host, but that’s only because travel is tough right now since the girls are small.’

“The Los Angeles native settled in the suburbs of New York City after launching her television career in Juneau, Alaska, covering salmon fishing, bear hunting, tourism and pre-Palin state politics. ‘That experience planted the seed and created the foundation for my interest in economics and financial journalism,’ she said. Then it was on to Grand Junction, Colo., and Plattsburgh, N.Y., before spending a decade at Bloomberg Television in New York City covering the New York Stock Exchange and other financial markets, which led to her current position at Fox. ‘Fox Business is an exciting place to be right now. The network is growing quickly and the news flow has been intense with these highly volatile markets,’ she said.

“Rothman works at Fox’s headquarters in the News Corporation building at 1211 Avenue of the Americas near Rockefeller Center and Radio City Music Hall. In addition to her 1 p.m. telecast, she appears on the flagship Fox News Channel reporting on the economy and on Fox affiliate stations providing market updates. She has interviewed major financial newsmakers and billionaires, and has appeared on Entertainment Tonight to talk about the financial impact of the latest Hollywood scandal or ‘the divorce du jour,’ adding, ‘The best thing about working for Fox is that you never quite know how the day will unfold. It’s never dull!'”
