MacLean’s journalist Hemmadi joining The Logic

MacLean’s journalist Murad Hemmadi has been hired by The Logic, a Canadian website covering the innovation economy that launched in June.

He will start Sept. 17.

“He will provide innovation coverage from our nation’s capital focusing on innovation policy, digital transformation and the tech sector in Ottawa,” said The Logic founder David Skok. Shopify is based in Ottawa.

Hemmadi has been at MacLean’s, a Canadian magazine, for the past 18 months, as an assistant editor and associate editor.

Before MacLean’s, he was with Rogers Communications as a senior editor, helping to manage PROFITguide.com, including assigning and editing content, long-term strategy and planning.

He is a graduate of the University of Toronto.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
