A master’s student at Louisiana State University has started a business news site for Baton Rouge professionals.
Currently, the site features stories such as Apple’s earnings and Skype’s plans to go public.
“I used a WordPress content management system to make my site,” said Hammond in a message. “Pretty easy to create. WordPress I think is really intuitive.
“I only had to pay like $20 or something to get the domain,” she added. “I pay the host a small monthly fee. Other than that, it doesn’t cost any money. Found some open-source widgets and put them on the site. It’s easy to find stuff that’s free.”
Hammond, who attended Southern Methodist University as an undergrad, is now dealing with finding content to keep her site updated and relevant. There is already a weekly business newspaper in Baton Rouge called the Baton Rouge Business Report.
