Annie Lowrey, who covers economic policy for the New York Times in Washington, is leaving for a job at New York magazine, reports Dylan Byers of Politico.
Byers writes, “Lowrey joins the magazine as a contributing editor and online columnist, covering policy, politics, and technology, among other topics. Lowrey, who is married to Ezra Klein, will be based in Washington, D.C.
“‘Annie is truly a hybrid journalist, moving easily between print, digital, and social media, and I’m delighted that she’ll be joining us,’ Moss said in a statement. ‘She will be doing big magazine stories, and daily riffs, joining Jonathan Chait, Joe Coscarelli, and Kevin Roose on DI. Her subjects will vary as she explores the shifting economy and workplace, in particular; but she’ll have wide scope.’
“Our favorite piece of Lowrey’s to date is this article on the Washington, D.C., which she dubbed ‘the unstylish land of think tanks and tepid salmon lunches and boxy women’s suits.’ It angered Andrew Sullivan to no end.”
