Louisville Business First publisher Tyler resigns

Gary Tyler has resigned as market president and publisher of Louisville Business First effective Feb. 6.

Lisa Benson of Business First writes, “Tyler had served as publisher for almost five years and previously served as advertising director at Business First for two years. Prior to joining Business First, he was the advertising director at the State Journal Register, the daily newspaper in Springfield, Ill.

“He also spent more than 20 years working for local and regional advertising agencies in Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee and North Carolina. After leaving the agency world, he worked for five years in the advertising department at the Courier Journal.

“Tyler plans to remain in the Louisville area. Business First, part of Charlotte, N.C.-based American City Business Journals, will begin a search for his replacement.”

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
