Bob Moser of the Lafayette Daily Advertiser writes Thursday that a local resident plans to start a business magazine in March.

Moser wrote, “Charles M. Maraist, Jr., 29, of Lafayette, said he’s been formulating a vision for the Greater Lafayette Business Journal for more than a year since he came home to Lafayette with his family, after living in Baton Rouge and working as a certified public accountant for the past four years.

“Maraist graduated from UL in 2002 and left for Baton Rouge to do accounting. He returned to Lafayette with his wife in July 2007 to start a family, and has focused on launching the magazine since then. ‘While I was there (in Baton Rouge) I really liked the Baton Rouge Business Report,’ he said. ‘I wanted to have that here.’

“The magazine will focus each month on a specific industry, and explore major players and stories in that business sector throughout Acadia, Iberia, Lafayette, St. Landry, St. Martin and Vermilion parishes.”
