Wall Street Journal editing chief Lex Kaptik sent the following to the staff on Thursday:
Longtime staffer Barbara Chai will be leaving the Journal next week for new digital endeavors as the global head of content at a consultancy in New York.Barbara has held a variety of WSJ roles in the past two decades, from overseeing international news in Brussels to launching the Pro vertical editions to managing the Speakeasy site and leading culture coverage for DJMG. We’ll miss Barbara’s smart, idea-driven approach to news. In addition to being a great editor and leader on our team the past year, she edited Sue Shellenbarger‘s “From Campus to Career” e-book, conducted interviews at the Journal’s Future of Everything Festival, was a juror at the SXSW Film Festival, wrote Weekend Confidential profiles on Daniel Radcliffe and Armie Hammer, among others, and volunteered to participate as a journalism mentor to a Morgan State University student.
We will miss Barbara’s talent and good cheer. We wish her the very best!
Chai is becoming global head of content for Publicis Sapient, the digital consulting arm of Publicis Groupe, based in New York, effective Aug. 1
