Michael Flaherty, who has been an editor and reporter with Reuters for nearly 14 years, has left the news organization.
His last day was Thursday. His new job will be announced in two weeks.
Flaherty had most recently been a reporter in New York who was covering activist shareholders. He also covered corporate governance across corporate America, including issues such as the changing role of directors and engagement with investors.
Before that, he spent 18 months as a Federal Reserve correspondent in the Washington bureau.
Flaherty also worked in the news organization’s Hong Kong bureau as editor in charge of Asia finance, editor in charge of Asia companies coverage and team leader of the Asia investment desk.
He previously worked as a private equity reporter and a reporter on the Wall Street desk covering the stock market. He won Reuters’ “Journalist of the Year” accolade in 2007 for his coverage of the private equity industry.
He’s a Bowdoin College graduate. Flaherty also teaches at Rutgers University as a part-time lecturer.
