Carrie Mason-Draffen, a longtime business journalist for Newsday, is retiring from the paper after nearly 35 years.
She has been at the paper since May 1984.
Mason-Draffen primarily wrote about local employment and workplace rights, but she also tackled any other local business stories she found interesting.
She wrote the “Help Wanted” column, which was syndicated nationally and answered employees’ and employers’ workplace questions.
She is also the author of “151 Quick Ideas to Deal with Difficult People,” a book that was published in 2007.
Mason-Draffen also taught journalism at Adelphi University.
