Long Island Business publisher leaving

Publisher John Kominicki of the Long Island Business News is planning to leave the paper at the end of this month to join an advertising and digital marketing agency.

Tom Incantalupo of Newsday writes, “Kominicki, 58, a Stony Brook resident who joined the 7,500-circulation business weekly in 1998, will become a partner and president at Digital Motion, of Bohemia, he said Wednesday.

“Kominicki has been Long Island Business News publisher since it was acquired by The Dolan Company, its parent, from owners Paul and Terry Townsend. The Dolan Company, which is based in Minneapolis and has more than 50 publications, is unrelated to the Dolan family who founded and controls Cablevision Systems Corp., Newsday’s parent.

“Long Island Business News advertising director Ken Kroncke will oversee operations while The Dolan Company conducts a national search for a permanent replacement, an article on the paper’s website said.

“Kominicki joined The Dolan Company as publisher of The Journal Record in Oklahoma in 1995. ‘I’ve been in the legitimate-content business my entire adult life,’ Kominicki says in the Web article. ‘This is a great opportunity to bring that experience to the evolving digital content space.'”
