Lifehacker hires Rowan as personal finance reporter

Lisa Rowan

Lifehacker, a Gizmodo Media Group website, has hired Lisa Rowan as a personal finance reporter.

She starts next month.

Rowan had been a senior reporter and on-air analyst at personal finance site The Penny Hoarder.

At The Penny Hoarder, she wrote personal finance features along with a weekly advice column, Dear Penny, that was syndicated by the Tampa Bay Times.She had been at Penny Hoarder since August 2016.

Rowan co-wrote The Penny Hoarder’s first longform series, The American Nightmare (2018), which explored the long-term impact of the 2008 financial crisis on homeownership and housing access in the United States.

She also co-hosted “Pop Fashion,” a top-rated weekly podcast about the business of fashion and culture. Her work has appeared in The Washington Post, Racked, CityLab, and the Washington City Paper, among others.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
