Joe Pompeo of Capital New York reports Thursday that layoffs are happening within the Wall Street Journal newsroom.
Pompeo writes, “Tim Martell, executive director of the Indepenent Association of Publishers’ Employees, a union that represents 477 U.S.-based members of the roughly 1,800-person combined global newsroom of the Journal and Dow Jones’ Newswires, told Capital management has informed IAPE about the cuts.
“Martell said IAPE was told that they will not exceed 100. A source with knowledge of the cuts said that today, fewer than 30 pink slips will be handed out.
“A Journal spokeswoman did not immediately return requests for comment.”
