Las Vegas biz journalist named ME of Texas paper

Ben Tinsley, a former business writer at the Las Vegas Business Press, has been named managing editor of the McKinney Courier-Gazette in Texas, according to a story on its Web site.

The story stated, “Tinsley, 41, is a former employee of the company, having worked as a reporter for the Plano Star Courier and the Lewisville Leader for several years in the mid-1990s.

“Tinsley, who has won various writing awards during his time as a reporter, has nearly 20 years of experience as a journalist. He has worked in Texas, New Mexico, Wyoming, Indiana, and Nevada. He has worked at the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the Arlington Morning News, the Amarillo Globe-News, the Odessa American, the Garland News, the Galveston County Daily News and, most recently, the Las Vegas Business News and Las Vegas Food And Beverage Magazine.

“The 1991 graduate of Tarleton State University in Stephenville Texas comes from a journalism and writing family.

“His father, Jack B. Tinsley, led the Fort Worth Star-Telegram to two Pulitzer prizes as its executive editor in the 1980s.”
